Happy Halloween, Music Lovin’ buddies!!!!!
So it’s Halloween, one of my favorite holidays, probably my favorite of all next to Summer. And well, you know I’m stuck at work, working, wishing I could spend the whole day dreaming up a cool costume. But with no money, time or even energy. I had to give you all a treat who have been reading my music blog and enjoying it. Even taking time out to talk to me in person to mention an album that I mentioned that you liked.
That made my day, so I’m going to make yours with……….
A BOOMIX!!!!!
While I can’t give you something as awesome an experience as the Universal Halloween Horror Nights. And even make any of these songs scary, I can give you a brief description of some of these wonderful songs. Many of them are ones I’ve perused over the past months. And enjoyed, some new some old, but all faves of mine. I won’t talk about all of them but some.
Here’s the list….
1. Flug Auf Dem Glacksdrachen - From the Nevending Story Soundtrack
Listen to this one while you’re driving in your car and feel the power of flying on Falcor’s back
2. Goonies 2 - The Advantage
3. Money to Burn - MGMT - from Climbing to New Lows
4. Reasons Why - The Cure - From 4:13 Dream
Now, here’s the thing I love the Cure with all my heart and the first 4 songs off the new record floored me, I felt they were back to what made them amazing and good, sadly the rest of the album or at least the middle didn’t do it for me. I read that Robert Smith was really really worn out from making this album, sad, because they hold a soft place in my heart and always will, but this song shows you a bit of what makes them so brilliant, that signature Cure sound, guitar and voice both.
5. The Taste of You - Erin Mckeown - From Grand
6. The Waiting Room - Baal - From Behind Your Echoes
7. The First Big Weekend of the Summer - Arab Strap - from Ten Years of Tears
8. Another Runaway - Ladyhawke from Ladyhawke
Such an awesome tune, had to post it to ya’ll again. As you can probably tell I’m really obsessed with her.
9. Back of the Van - Ladyhawke from Ladyhawke
10. Ophelia - I’m From Barcelona - from Who Killed Harry Houdini?
11. Tune In - Tahiti 80 - From Activity Center
Tahiti 80 should be massive, their music is so light airy, wonderous pop, that it’ll make your day smile for you, I’ve been loving them since Wallpaper for the Soul.
12. You’re a Hologram - Hexes and Oh’s - From Bedroom Madness
13. Looking for a Fight - Hexes and Oh’s - From Bedroom Madness
Yeah I know I know it sucks that all the same artists keep getting grouped together, I made a folder to compress these and I couldn’t replace them in the order liked so, hey whatya want? They’re free songs for you. Oh and Hexes and Oh’s really really good, they remind me of a better Postal Service, two Canadian kids who are married making music in their bedroom.
14. Little Ghost - I’m From Barcelona - From Who Killed Harry Houdini?
15. Walking on a Dream - Empire of the Sun - From Walking on a Dream
16. Half Mast - Empire of the Sun - From Walking on a Dream
17. Turbulence - Arab Strap (remix from Bis, radio edit) - From Ten Years of Tears
18. Andy - I’m from Barcelona - From Who Killed Harry Houdini?
I’m From Barcelona a lot of people don’t like, I wasn’t too impressed with their first album Let me Introduce My Friends but this second album really has some very very great songs. I have three of them on there, so you can tell I like it a lot, very reminiscent of Reindeer Section, like 27 members.
